DHS put out a "myths vs. facts" for the travel ban.
The document says that there is no such thing as a "Muslim travel ban."
The initial travel ban targeted only Muslim-majority countries and came after Trump said he wanted to ban Muslims.
Fact check: False.
It IS a Muslim ban – that explicitly targets Africans.
The Biden administration must take action to support and protect trans youth — in sports, in classrooms, and in our communities.

We filed a lawsuit yesterday to get justice for Jamaican men who were kidnapped and abused by the U.S. Coast Guard for over a month.
The men still suffer from physical and psychological trauma as a result of their treatment.
Our clients still suffer from physical and psychological trauma as a result of their forced disappearance and abuse by the US Coast Guard. They deserve justice.

NEW: DHS has signed agreements with multiple jurisdictions that appear to be an unusual effort to hamstring the incoming Biden administration’s goals to alter immigration policy.
They would require DHS to check in with the locals before going forward.
This is a transparent attempt by Trump officials to tie the Biden administration’s hands and preserve Trump’s grotesque immigration enforcement policy.
The Biden administration has the authority, mandate, and responsibility to break from Trump’s legacy.
BREAKING: A federal judge has ruled that our lawsuit against the US Coast Guard can proceed.
The Coast Guard forcibly held and brutally abused four Jamaican fishermen in captivity for more than a month.
The fight for justice and accountability continues.
President-elect Biden is wrong to call for a new domestic terrorism law.
It is a predictably misguided response that will further harm Black and Brown communities.
Dustin Higgs is scheduled to be executed by the federal government today.
Dustin did not kill anyone — a fact that is undisputed. The prosecutors in the case actively misled the jury to secure a death sentence for him.
Dustin Higgs should not be executed.
On this week’s episode of our podcast, we talked with the ACLU’s president, Susan Herman, on why we called for Trump’s impeachment — again.

Last night, the federal government killed Corey Johnson.
His execution was a violation of the Constitution and federal law.
The death penalty dehumanizes all of us.
Here are Corey Johnson's last words. "I am not the same man that I was," he said, after apologizing to the families of his victims and listing their names. He then thanked prison staff, his attorneys, and his minister.
The estimated cost of executing five people on federal death row was more than $4.61 million. That’s nearly $1 million to take a human life.

One change the Biden administration can make on day one is to ensure that we can all access federal IDs that accurately reflect who we are.
It’s time for a deportation moratorium — and a commitment to a more just and humane vision for immigrants’ rights.

SCOTUS is reviewing the last appeals that will decide whether Corey Johnson lives or dies.
If they let his execution go forward, it will be another needless death in a year of reckless executions amidst a pandemic.
The system is broken beyond repair. End the death penalty.
Replying to @NYCLU: The horrific violence the NYPD inflicted against protesters for racial justice this summer is indefensible.

The government should not embrace the watchlisting system in response to what happened on 1/6. That system is an affront to fairness and due process.
Anti-trans politicians are once again attacking trans youth in Montana. Bills have been introduced that would ban medical care for trans youth and ban trans students from participating in school sports. Hearings on these bills may happen as soon as next week.
The horrific violence the NYPD inflicted against protesters for racial justice this summer is indefensible.
@NewYorkStateAG is right to use the power of her office to launch an overdue reckoning of the militarized use of force against protesters.
